Our Team

Kimberley North, B. Mus, CMT, MTA (she/her)

Owner, Music Therapist, Teacher (flute, piano)

Kim is currently on Maternity Leave, and not currently accepting new clients - she is still responding to emails.

Kimberley (Miss Kim) holds a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Dalhousie University (2009), as well as a Certificate in Music Therapy from Acadia University (2015).

During her music therapy internship, Kim travelled to Texas to the Robert F. Unkefer Academy for Neurologic Music Therapy where she studied under Michael Thaut, Ph. D. and Corine Thaut to receive the certification requirements for the designation of Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT).  At the time of her certification, she was the only certified NMT practitioner in Atlantic Canada.

Upon the completion of her internship Kim received her certification of Certified Music Therapist (MTA) from the Canadian Association of Music Therapists in 2015. In the same year, she opened her private practice North Music Therapy.

While her music therapy journey began in long term care, Kim quickly found herself following her passion to work with children. She completed her post natal music therapy training in 2016 and has since been specializing in working with young infants and their parents using music to facilitate parent-infant emotional bonding. Kim also works in daycares, schools, and through her private practice with young children.

Known for her kind and loving approach with her clients and students, Miss Kim also teaches music lessons to children of all abilities, allowing them to learn music fundamentals while having fun and fostering a life long love and appreciation for music.

In her spare time, Miss Kim loves being outside; either hiking, biking, or swimming. If the weather doesn’t allow one of the above actives, Miss Kim can be found at home spending quality time with her partner and two tuxedo cats, Koji and Miku.
